Mat’s culinary expertise and hospitality commentary gained international visibility through years of recognition from renowned Chef Gordon Ramsay, who continues to follow and support his culinary work on social media. This recognition ultimately led to Mat being invited to Hollywood to appear as a guest judge and culinary critic on FOX’s Gordon Ramsay’s The F Word. Beyond media and consulting, Mat has become actively involved in hospitality and nightlife advocacy. He was appointed to the Ottawa Nightlife Council, serving as an advisor to the Nightlife Commissioner’s Office on the development, vibrancy, safety, and advancement of Ottawa’s nightlife economy and hospitality culture.
Mat is an honorary lifetime member of the Canadian Culinary Federation and recipient of the prestigious National Sandy Sanderson Award, recognizing his contributions toward promoting the culinary profession in a progressive and positive manner across Canada.
Widely recognized for his strong culinary abilities, technical understanding, and refined palate, Mat’s expertise led him to serve as Executive Sous-Chef for Goût de France at the French Embassy in Ottawa, helping execute one of the world’s largest simultaneous culinary events celebrating French gastronomy.
