Canada’s Great Kitchen Party Ottawa Announces Its Competing Chefs for 2022!
Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa Hosts Regional Competition
Canada’s Great Kitchen Party Ottawa is proud to announce the Chefs line-up for our regional culinary competition which will be held at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa on September 26th, 2022.
The Great Kitchen Party in Ottawa will be the first to be held among the 9 competing cities, from St. John’s, NL to Vancouver, BC. These regional competitions will end in late November 2022, with each region’s gold medal winning chef qualifying for the Canadian Culinary Championship in Ottawa, February 3-4, 2022.
The Chefs selected to compete for Ottawa-Gatineau’s 2022 Kitchen Party regional competition at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa on September 26th are:
Justin Champagne, Perch
Éric Chagnon-Zimmerly, North & Navy
Dominique Dufour, Gray Jay
Briana Kim, Alice Restaurant
Wapokunie Riel-Lachapelle, Nikosi Bistro, Wakefield, QC
“With the nation’s capital set to host the Canadian Culinary Championship next January”, said Ottawa Co-Chair Michael Dimitriou of MNP, new presenting sponsor for the project, “we know there will be even more excitement around the opportunity to represent Ottawa-Gatineau on the national stage. With three Canadian Champions being from our region (Yannick LaSalle of Les Fougères and two-time Canadian Champion Marc Lepine of Atelier), we know that Ottawa’s chefs are very competitive and look forward to another great edition in 2022!”
With regional events not taking place in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, the appetite is high for Canada’s Great Kitchen Party in-person competitions to take place once again in the Fall of 2022. Over 100 chefs from 9 regions will compete amongst the best in the country, with the title of Canadian Culinary Champion on the line.
Karen Blair, Co-Founder of Canada’s Great Kitchen Party speaks of the organization’s contributions to a variety of organizations. “Over 17 million dollars has been raised during the past 16 years”, she says, “and we are proud to continue to provide Canadian youth the opportunity to be extraordinary in sport, music and food through the beneficiaries that our events support. This year we are supporting MusiCounts – which ensures that music education is inclusive, sustainable and accessible for youth across Canada and our new beneficiary: Spirit North, an organization that uses land and water-based activities to improve the health and well-being of Indigenous youth, empowering them to be unstoppable in sport, school and life.”
With the Canadian Culinary Championship being held in Ottawa in early February 2023, Canada’s Great Kitchen Party Ottawa on September 26th at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa will be a more intimate, boutique style event.
